Eric H. Tongren Obituary (1955 - 2018)

Portland- Eric H. Tongren, age 63, died Saturday, September 15 at Maine Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1955 in Washington, DC, the son of Hale and Sally Stetson Tongren. Eric was a volunteer Docent for most of his life. He loved the mechanics of railroads and trains and had an impressive collection of photographs of actual trains. He had a great vocabulary and was a great reader. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and would always know the answers before anyone else. Eric was a sweet man who loved animals and supported the Humane Society’s mission of treating animals fairly. He enjoyed going on car rides, especially appreciating the beauty of the back roads of Maine. When he would stop to eat at a local restaurant, he would always order a lobster roll. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 16 at 1PM in the family lot at Tupper Cemetery, Topsfield Maine.
