Orr's Island-Grace Gilliam age 91 formerly of Orr's Island died peacefully Sunday, September 12th at the Amenity Manor Nursing Home in Topsham.
She was born in Bristol, Connecticut on May 17, 1919 the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette Cocciola Pascucci.
On August 21, 1937 she married Donald E. Gilliam Sr. He died September 10, 2003. They resided on Orr's Island for 49 years. For many years Grace worked for W.T. Grants and Cook's Lobster House.
Grace enjoyed spending quality time with her family and knitting. For twenty five years Grace wintered with her husband in Florida.
Grace was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Church- All Saints Parish until her illness. She was also a 52 year member of the Daughter's of Isabella and had served as a past Regent.
Surviving are three daughters Rose Wood and her husband Phillip of Lisbon Falls, Grace M. Simmons and her husband Clayton of Bristol, CT and Alberta "Birdie" Pickard and her husband Donald of Topsham. A brother Patrick Pascucci of Sun City AZ. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren of whom Grace was very proud.
In addition to her husband Grace was also predeceased by a son Donald Gilliam Jr.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 14th from 6-8PM at Stetson's Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 15th at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church –All Saints Parish 132 McKeen St. Brunswick. A reception will follow in the parish hall immediately following the funeral mass. Committal prayers will be held Wednesday, September 15th at 1:30 PM at the Orr's Island Cemetery.
