Phippsburg- Herbert P. Simpson, age 77, passed away on November 4th at his home in Phippsburg, as a result of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). He was born March 11, 1936, in Bath, Maine, the son of Herbert P. and Lucy Ward Simpson. \n \tHerb was a graduate of the Brunswick High School class of 1954. \nFor 38 years he worked as a field service technician for the Caterpillar dealer in Portland, Maine. Then for 17 years, he was an independent contractor servicing diesel engines. \nHerb was predeceased by his wife, Jane "Louise” Petrak Simpson. \n \tHe is survived by his long-time companion, Jennifer Weiss with whom he lived; a daughter, Martha and her husband Gary Meierdiercks of Islip, NY; a son Jeffrey of Bath, Maine; a sister, Millie and her husband Allan Stewart of Brunswick, Maine; Jennifer’s daughter, Amy and her husband Ken Justice of Sylvan Lake, Michigan; cousins Joe Melrose and Peter Footer; nephew, Derek Stewart and his wife Suzann; niece, Ellen Stewart and her husband Allan Wahl; and three grand-nephews. \n \tVisiting hours will be held Wednesday, November 6th from 4-7PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick.\n \tServices will be private. \n \tIn lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to either the Salvation Army, 25 Congress St., Bath, ME 04530 or to a charity of your choice.
