John A. Goodenow Jr. Obituary (1932 - 2011)

Topsham-John Albion Goodenow Jr. age 79 of Middlesex Road died Sunday, November 13th at his home. He was born in Brunswick, January 10, 1932 the son of John A. Sr. and Katherine Brown Goodenow. He attended Brunswick schools. For many years he worked with his father at Brunswick Coal. As a hard worker, John worked at Bath Iron Works as a tank tester for 42 years retiring in 1994. During the Korean Conflict he served in the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star Service Medal returning to Bath Iron works after serving. On October 25, 1969 he married Dorothy F. Sherman. She died March 16, 2010. John enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, country music, watching wrestling and motorcycle riding. Surviving are three sons John Goodenow III and Jeffery Goodenow both of Topsham and Joey Goodenow of Harpswell. Stepson Steven David Bailey of Gardiner. A daughter Alice Bailey Goodenow of Brunswick. Two sisters Dorothy Wallace of Richmond and Betty Eaton of Topsham. Also survived by twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. At John’s request services will be private. Interment will be in Maquoit Cemetery, Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
